Indigo Blue Modern Shaker-Style Kitchen
We were tasked with creating a new modern kitchen for a YouTube food reviewer and his family.
Mike visited the property and, after listening to their ideas, discussed in detail what could be achieved by opening up walls and changing window and doorways. This would create a large room with light flooding in and views over their beautiful garden space. They loved the idea. It meant moving the main kitchen to the other end of the house and transforming an old playroom into a utility room.
It was a large reconfiguration, so they were excited to get started. They chose an indigo-blue painted, modern shaker-style kitchen with Siemens built-in appliances, including an inductAir hob on the island for cooking.
They both enjoyed cooking, so plenty of working space was important to them. It was also his base for much of his filming, so we provided the connection points where he needed them.
A formal dining space was provided, with open views of the garden for their family to enjoy.
After removing the old kitchen, we worked with our builder, who knocked through two rooms, reconfigured the windows and the doorway to the outside, then replastered the walls and ceilings.
We brought in our window expert to install the new black windows and door while we prepped the room, rerouting plumbing and electrics. The boiler was replaced by a gas company and repositioned as per Mike’s design, before we could work on the installation, flooring, and lighting.
The kitchen has matching splashbacks and coordinates beautifully. The ovens face the hob on the island, creating a cooking zone. The island added extra storage and allowed for casual seating with a wall-mounted TV. LED spotlights were installed in the ceiling, and all lighting was zoned to allow variation of usage. The kitchen houses everything they need, with a pantry unit and built-in refrigeration, plus a Quooker tap for instant boiling water.
The utility room now houses their laundry needs. LVT was installed throughout and into the hallway to finish.
The change it has made to this family home means they have invested in their future living style, with a beautiful modern open kitchen/dining room and wonderful views of their garden. It looks wonderful! They are very happy, and we are delighted they chose us for their project. We brought it all together within an agreed timeline.
Our client did a lifestyle YouTube vlog on the project, which you can watch here.
They also left a glowing review:
“From our 1st visit to the showroom to enquire about a new kitchen design until the renovation completion, our experience with Mike Hughes Fitted Interiors was 1st class.
Mike used his years of experience in kitchen design to advise us on how best to use the space and achieve what we had in mind. Following a visit to our home, Mike created a design that we could visualise in the showroom using the big screen, which really helped us immerse ourselves in the new space.
We had never undertaken such a large home renovation project and were both feeling apprehensive; however, this was unnecessary, as the process was worry-free. We simply emptied our cupboards, set up a temporary 'camp kitchen' and Mike's team took care of the rest. The small thoughtful things, like making sure our washing machine was plumbed in on the same day as the old kitchen was removed, made us feel very looked after and showed true customer care.
Mike has a fantastic team of kitchen fitters and tradesmen. They are all experienced professionals, and their attention to detail in their work was astounding. They are a credit to the company.
Mike Hughes Fitted Interiors provide the full package from start to finish, and the team were always contactable, should we need to discuss anything with them. We are so pleased with our new kitchen-diner.”
